Formost 200 Inhaler is used to control and prevent symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) caused by asthma. It contains 2 medications: mometasone and formoterol. Mometasone belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It works by reducing the irritation and swelling of the airways. Formoterol belongs to the class of drugs known as long-acting beta agonists. It works by relaxing the muscles around the airways so that they open up and you can breathe more easily.
Uses:
- Asthma
This medicine is used in the maintenance treatment of asthma. It is helpful in preventing and treating symptoms such as breathing difficulties, wheezing, shortness of breath, etc.
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
This medicine is used to prevent and treat symptoms such as breathing difficulties, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, etc. associated with a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Side Effects:
The most common side effects arenausea, vomiting, respiratory tract infection, fungal infections in the mouth, dry mouth, headache, hoarseness of voice, sore throat, cough, musculoskeletal (bone, muscle, or joint) pain, and increased heart rate.
Prescription:
Inhaler: Hold the inhaler with the mouthpiece downwards. Put the mouthpiece between your teeth and seal the lips around it. Then, press down the inhaler once to release the medication. Breathe in slowly and hold your breath for 5 to 10 seconds. Breathe out slowly. Repeat the process until you have inhaled the number of puffs prescribed by the doctor.Respicaps/Rotacaps: It is for inhalation only. Do not swallow the capsule. The capsule should be placed at the base of the rotahaler/respihaler and completely twist the mouthpiece until you hear a click sound. Then, breathe in through the mouthpiece deeply and hold your breath for 10 seconds. Remove the device and breathe out normally.
Precautions:
If you are allergic to Formost 200 Inhaler or any other ingredients, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to inform your doctor before using Formost 200 Inhaler. Formost 200 Inhaler is not recommended for children below 12 years of age. If your breathing worsens or you often wake up at night with asthma, experience chest tightness in the morning, or last longer than usual, please consult a doctor immediately. These might be signs indicating that your asthma is not controlled properly and requires an alternate or additional treatment. Regular monitoring of potassium levels is recommended while using Formost 200 Inhaler as it may cause low potassium levels in the blood. If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, hypokalaemia (low potassium levels in the blood), glaucoma, cataracts, osteoporosis (weak bones), fits, immune system problems, chickenpox, and thyroid problems, inform your doctor before using Formost 200 Inhaler.
